Electric Air Conditioning (A/C) systems used in hybrid, plug-in, and electric vehicles are unlike the belt-driven systems used in traditional vehicles. The Stop-Start or all electric operation of a vehicle requires an air conditioning system that operates and cools the cabin (and in some cases the battery pack) regardless of vehicle mode. This series will provide the technician information and practical applications for understanding systems operation, diagnosis, using the correct system oil, and repair of vehicles using a High Voltage A/C system. GM, Honda, Lexus, Toyota and other popular products featured in this course.
At the conclusion of this course, technicians will have a firm understanding of these systems, how A/C systems can be used to cool battery packs, how to select the correct compressor oils, and testing compressors using Scan Tools and special tools.

Dr. Mark Quarto is a Vehicle Electrification expert with over 30 years in the automotive industry. In addition to being an instructor and special consultant to FutureTech Auto, Dr. Quarto is the founder of Quarto Technical Services (QTS), which provides engineering services, diagnostic equipment, training, technical support, and consulting in Vehicle Electrification to all facets of the automotive industry.
Responsibilities include design and development of: diagnostic test equipment & software, management and technical education, curriculum and training programs, and technology innovations with solutions focused on Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Propulsion and Energy Management Systems. These unique diagnostic techniques and applications are effectively used globally supporting automotive aftermarket businesses.
Other professional experience includes 28 years at General Motors Company with the last 16 years dedicated to Advanced Vehicle Engineering and as an Engineering Group Manager. Responsibilities included management, development of control and diagnostics systems, and service solutions for the Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Volt, Fuel Cell, Two-Mode Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid Truck (PHT), EV1 Electric Vehicle, S10 Electric Truck, and Alternative Fuel Systems Programs. Prior 12 years included Service Training Development Manager and Resident Instructor in the technical training environment.
Specialized Education includes a Doctorate in Technical Education from Nova Southeastern University, specialized in design, development, and technical education systems for hybrid and electric vehicles including high voltage energy and propulsion systems. Master’s Degree and two Bachelor Degrees all are in the areas of Electrical Engineering and Automotive Technology.
